This has been an unforgettable year, and it is only June! Wildfires, Coronavirus, and now rioting over the horrific death of a black man. It is time to rethink how the police are trained to handle people of color. Racism needs to stop. Period! People need to use their voting power to get rid of racism in politics and to vote in people who will be there for ALL people, regardless of skin color.
I got caught up in the making of masks for friends because of the coronavirus. I made over 200. Some people said I should charge $20 or more. I couldn't do it. I just couldn't take advantage of a crisis situation to make money. So I charged $7 with free shipping. Most people told me I wasn't charging enough and quite a few sent a little extra money. But God blessed my efforts and I managed to make quite a bit. I felt really good about not taking advantage of people.
In February, a woman hit Mike while he was driving. The insurance company totaled Mike's car, but didn't give us enough money to buy another decent car. It has been really hard, but we decided to just have one car. It was working out ok, until the engine blew on my PT Cruiser. Our friend, Sam, got us a deal on a new/rebuilt engine, Mike took a week off from work, but the repairs took a long time. For a few days, Mike took an Uber to work. Then it occurred to us that we should just rent a car. We had a rental car for at least two weeks. Finally the car was done and we enjoyed having my car back. But I noticed two things as I drove it to run errands: The air conditioner wasn't working and there was something loose under the hood. I told Mike several times and he said he'd have Sam look at it. He never did. This past Monday Mike was on his way to work and the car started cutting out. So he drove home and called Sam, took the car to his house on Tuesday, and rented a car. We got the car back yesterday. Apparently, the a.c. needed to be fixed. It is wonderful to have my car back.
This past Sunday I went to the store and I fell in the parking lot. On nothing. It felt like I had gotten hit, but I didn't. The knee of my jeans ripped and I got a fairly deep gash in my knee. By bedtime I was in pain. By the next day, I really hurt! Today is Friday and I am still in so much pain all over. I have bruises and bumps and my hips and knees hurt. I wish I had video of the fall, because I don't remember much. It's like some invisible force knocked me down. I suppose it will take a while to recover from this.
Mozzie, our precious dog, had a second bladder stone surgery in March. This time there was more than one stone. It took him a longer time to recover this time. The surgery was harder on his little body. And now he has to eat a different specialized diet than after the first surgery. It is expensive and restrictive. I hope and pray that this works well and that he never has to have another surgery. He is my sweet little babyman and when he hurts, I hurt.
So that has been my year, so far. It has been difficult, but God has provided for us in so many ways!
