Another Move

At the end of July, I received notice that the owners of the house we were renting was going to sell the house; we had until September first to move.  I did not panic or come apart, as I usually do.  God really has been working wonders in me.  I had just received an order for ten teddy bears and that was my priority, and I had begun an online auction of some of my things to help pay for our dog, Riley's, vet bills, but I began packing and looking for houses online.

It took until the middle of August to finish and mail the teddy bears.  The auction went well and was over by the middle of August, as well.  I took one day and drove over one hundred miles in my general area looking at houses that were within our price range.  I was determined that rent was going to be kept at $1,000 a month, or less.

With God's help, I found a little house on the opposite side of the city in which we live.  Our previous house was 1500+ square feet, sitting on a quarter of an acre, two-story with a basement, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 car garage.  Our new house is a little over 800 square feet and the yard is about one-third the size of our other yard, one story, no basement, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, one-car garage.  To say we are having to adjust to the smaller house is an understatement.

I believe that God provided BOTH houses for us in a time of serious need.  And they both were/are perfect for us.  Mike and I both LOVE this small house!  Yes, I must rid myself of many things in order to fit into this house, but I find it easier to do.  I do like the yard, but I REALLY miss our old yard.  I had worked so hard in the Spring to prepare a better garden than the previous year, and at the time we got notice about having to move, production of vegetables was in full swing.  On our last day, I picked as much as I possibly could and said goodbye to my garden and home of two years.  I thanked God for providing the shelter we needed at the time and asked Him to bless our new home.

Yesterday I was running errands in our old part of town, so I decided to drive by and see how the house was doing.  To my surprise, the realtor was having an open house.  I went in and introduced myself and asked permission to look at the garden to see if there was anything to harvest.  The realtor said yes.  I spent more than thirty minutes outside harvesting.  I got four large bags full of vegetables!  I giggled and thanked God the whole way home.  It felt so good to be working in my garden again.

I am hopeful that I will be able to have a very good garden in this new yard as I did in the old yard.  There is not much that is better than working the earth and watching God make it produce.  Some have called the exercise of gardening nature's prozac.  I would have to agree.  I am also hopeful that my sewing business grows and does extremely well.  I look forward to seeing what God has in store for us in this new season of life.
